cutting holes in the floor to get at it. Has anyone here done it? Did it work OK?

Any ideas on how to get the hood open?

The garage I was at wanted to cut my hood to get it up. When I said no, they wanted to bust up the grill. I took the truck home so they couldn't get
their grubby hands on it.

I have a '99 S10 with a V6. I have not been able to start it for a week despite replacing the fuel filter and checking the fuel pump relay. I went to check the power to the pump at the test port and could not find it. Picking up the Haynes and then the Chilton did not help at all despite the vague picture in the Haynes of the engine with an arrow pointing at the driver side of the hood. I know that I will need to get to it, (unless I want to drop the fuel tank needlessly). My other guess is...

Has anyone had to replace the oil lines? I have a 99 Blazer and the lines coming from the oil filter base to the raditor was fairly simple to replace. However, getting the ones going back to the oil pan area proved to be a problem. Seems it can't be pulled thourgh the front or back when unbolted. It looks like the motor may need to be lifted so you can slide it out.

Anybody else run into this problem? I don't want to lift the motor to replace it. I will be doing this with a shop style car hoist and a engine hoist. would it be easier to remove transfer case and tranny? or would unhooking the front differential and unhooking the transfer case allow engine to be removed with trans. attached? Im trying to figure out how to get around those hard to get to bellhousing bolts.
